I have a Sony laptop with a sound card that XP detects as VIA AC 97. Ive tried using the soundblaster compat. drivers but it hangs on bott and i have to power off. Is there a specific driver for this sc? i also looked in both 2.2.19 and 2.4.5 kernels to see if i could get the module out of there, but no luck.
