VFS: Kernel panic error at boot (2.6.10)

Hi all!

I just compiled the sources for the 2.6.10 kernel (upgrading from 2.4.26). But when I try to boot the kernel, I get something along these lines:

Code:
VFS: Unable to mount root "308" xxxxx boot(3,8)
I can't really remember what was written in the "xxxxx" part. But anyways, any ideas on what I did wrong? I'm not very experienced with kernel compiles so any ideas of what I might have missed out? I'm using the reiserfs file-system and have added that support into the kernel so I'm really not sure why it can't mount the root drive. Also, I'm sure that I've got the correct partition as the 2.4.26 kernel mounts the exact same partition at boot time. Oh, and I'm using LILO if that helps at all.

Thanks for your time!

hi there

it is always good to build from a config file of running kernel
like u can start buidlng ur kernel from a config file of fedora core 2
once u r successfull then u can change the options with respect to that config file

regards

Please read slackware-current/testing/packages/linux-2.6.x/README.initrd. You need to have your kernel aware of your filesystem (reiserfs?) first.
