vfat and fat modules? Can't find them.

Installed the basic 2.4.22 kernel with slackware 9.1.

I don't seem to be able to find the vfat and fat modules even though they are in the rc.modules.

Am I going to have to compile a new kernel?

you may be able to see them in rc.modules but do they have a pound (#) symbol in front of the line ?
and whats the output of :
cat /usr/src/linux/.config | grep CONFIG_VFAT_FS
if the output is :
CONFIG_VFAT_FS=n
then yes you'll have to recompile ...

ls -l /lib/modules/2.4.22/kernel/fs

I uncommented fat and vfat in rc.modules but it didn't help. I obviously do not have the modules.

ls -l /lib/modules/2.4.22/kernel/fs

Just draws a blank.

Looks like I will have to recompile my kernel.

If you're basically happy with the stock-kernel
just reinstall the modules ...

They're in a seperate tgz on your CD ...

Cheers,
Tink
