I can confirm that this works. I suppose now the options are:

1: include the patch in the slackbuild, or
2: try to find the root cause elsewhere.

I really wouldn't know where to look elsewhere, and I don't know if anyone really has the time. Either way, good work!

EDIT: Tested on KDE
