UW IMAP Server in Slackware 14

Would somebody be so kind and explain me please what is the reason that Slackware still uses UW IMAP server?
I find out that the current Slackware tree contains some updates for UW IMAP (2.00 > 2.02). Several years ago it looked like the maintainer (developer) doesn't update the application anymore.

1. Who is the maintainer now?
2. Are there any ChangeLogs about the updates? (I found only this link http://www.washington.edu/imap/docum.../RELNOTES.html )
3. It is worth to keep using UW IMAP in Slackware? (and not to use some different application instead)

NOTE:
I didn't mean to attack here anyone I just want to understand the reasons. I do use now dovecot instead of UW IMAP on my Slackware boxes and I would like to know some more information before I revert to use UW IMAP with Slackware 14. (I would really like to do this)

UH.. if only uw imap would support maildir format. I switched to dovecot too because I needed the maildir format, all the users saved the email on the server and when it reached 2 GB the mbox crashed.

I think Slackware should consider switching to dovecot with exim/postfix in the next major version.
