Before i've been dualbooting win2k/slackware by using win2k's bootloader and the dd'ing bootsector trick. As my floppy drive failed, and i don't have a fat32 partition to copy the bootsector too in order to get it into win2k, I was wondering if anyone knew of a tool to grab the bootsector that i could run in win2k.
Go visit www.winimage.com, there's a freeware utility there called BootPart. It's a win32 command-line utility, but I don't know if it can update boot.ini's stored in NTFS partitions... read the README.TXT included CAREFULLY!! I don't wanna hear you say you lost all your data, dude.
How big is the partition you have Win2K installed on? if big enough, you could use a partition editor and shrink a bit so that you can create a FAT32 partition to share files between Linux and Windows. Also, do you have access to a USB device like a ZIP drive or hard drive? You could use that to share/move files between them, too. There's a utility on the 'net(can't remember the name , that will allow read-only access to an ext2 partition. I don't know if it will allow access to ext3 or reiserfs.

the partition win2k is stored on is actaully about 78 gigs, so truly I could shrink it a lil bit. BUt as i have 60 gigs of data on it atm, and no current backup, i'm a bit disinclined to attempt a partition resize ya know? That utility for r/o'ing ext2 sounds promising tho, thanks
