Using Slackware 13.0, and attempting to use bind as a local name server...

I did a full install. I'm trying to locate all the files related to bind. I can locate /etc/named.conf but as far as the others (*.zone and *.res), I can't find those. Any idea on where those are? Grepping for them takes forever.

or should I just reinstall bind?

Hello trist007,

The zone and reserve files are std located in
/var/named/, but you can change the location in
/etc/named.conf.

If you need an example for a local domain, I
can show you mine. Only say so.

Best regards.
Jack Out!
Cheers

I found http://www.madboa.com/geek/soho-bind/ to be a most useful guide for setting up bind.
