user ntfs hard drive access problem

Im not sure why no matter what I try I cant get access to these partitions. When Im root I can access them all. Chmod does not even work. This is my fstab

/dev/hda1 /Windows ntfs
ro,users,gid=users,unask=0002,nls=utf8 0 0
/dev/hda2 /Ntfs_2 ntfs
ro,users,gid=users,unask=0002,nls=utf8 0 0
/dev/hdb1 /Ntfs_3 ntfs
ro,users,gid=users,unask=0002,nls=utf8 0 0

running slackware 10.1 kernel 2.4.29 with kde 3.3.2
Please help this is really getting me mad because I cant listen to music without doing a su and running it from that.

Oh another thing When im in firefox plugins wont install... when im root suddenly its like it already has the plugin and works... can someone please tell me a good groups i should give myself access too to avoid this very annoying situations? I dont want to work as root.....

My ntfs partion looks like this in /etc/fstab:

/dev/hda1 /windows ntfs ro,umask=000 1 0

chmod (along with chown and chgrp) won't work because ntfs doesn't support permissions (neither does vfat). You have to mount it the way you want it.

It is indeed umask, not unask as the OP had it ;}
