usb problems with phone and digital camera

I hit the second time to the same wall - and it is not acceptable for me.

What happened >
I connected my portable telephone (and digital camera) to usb on my Slackware 13_64 desktop and tried to mount them as I usually do:
1. I check the device number by dmesg. I usually get something like this /dev/sdc1.
2. After this I mount it somewhere. (mount /dev/sdc1 /usb)

Now I get something like this:
Quote:
usb 3-4: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 2
usb 3-4: New USB device found, idVendor=0421, idProduct=002d
usb 3-4: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
usb 3-4: Product: Nokia 6120 classic
usb 3-4: Manufacturer: Nokia
usb 3-4: SerialNumber: 356255011991700
usb 3-4: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
scsi6 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices
usb-storage: device found at 2
usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning
scsi 6:0:0:0: Direct-Access Nokia S60 1.0 PQ: 0 ANSI: 0
sd 6:0:0:0: [sdc] 996116 512-byte hardware sectors: (510 MB/486 MiB)
sd 6:0:0:0: [sdc] Write Protect is off
sd 6:0:0:0: [sdc] Mode Sense: 03 00 00 00
sd 6:0:0:0: [sdc] Assuming drive cache: write through
sd 6:0:0:0: [sdc] 996116 512-byte hardware sectors: (510 MB/486 MiB)
sd 6:0:0:0: [sdc] Write Protect is off
sd 6:0:0:0: [sdc] Mode Sense: 03 00 00 00
sd 6:0:0:0: [sdc] Assuming drive cache: write through
sdc:
sd 6:0:0:0: [sdc] Attached SCSI removable disk
sd 6:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg2 type 0
usb-storage: device scan complete
There is apparently no device number for sdc. After this I made some stupid steps (mount /dev/sdc /usb) and I HIT THE WALL first time!
The mount command didn't succeed and I cannot stop it in no manner. CTRL +C, ... does not terminate the process. The kill -9 does not terminate it too. I hate to accept the idea that nothing else can be done but reboot. I need to stop the false processes somehow and try the mount procedure again - till I succeed.

In fact I had the same problem with my digital camera. The only difference was that this device get the /dev/sdc1 device number but the mount command ends with the same result. (mount /dev/sdc1 /usb)

Questions:
1. What is the problem why I cannot kill the false processes? (kill -9 4877)

(every 2 sec)
4835 ? D 0:00 [hald-probe-stor]
4877 ? D 0:00 mount /dev/sdc /usb
2. What is the best way to work with my usb devices?

Thanks

Processes in status D (uninterruptible sleep, see top(1)) cannot be killed.

Most probably this is a hardware problem: e.g. Bad usb cable.
