usb mouse

Hello, After installation of Slackware 10.2 on my Acer (64-bit turion) laptop, my usb mouse doesn't work (touch pad works). I have also fedora 5 and there my mouse was recognised automatically.
I tried to modify xorg.conf but I couldn't get it work.
What exactly should the entry in xorg.conf be?
Or is it something else?
The mouse is two-button + wheel

Thanks

Can you show us what's in your xorg.conf now?

My entry for a USB mouse is like this:

Section "InputDevice"

Identifier "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
Option "SendCoreEvents" "true"
Option "Emulate3Buttons"
Option "Buttons" "5"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"

EndSection

There is an additional line in the ServerLayout section:

InputDevice "Mouse1"

I think having SendCoreEvents = true is necessary, if you want both USB mouse and touchpad working otherwise only the touchpad works (at least, this is what happened in my case).

Exclamation Try this

in your xorg.conf file, at section Device you should see something like:
Device /dev/input/mice
If not write it and unload usbmouse module from kernel !
Worked for me as a dream , hope it will help you to !

The last few times I've run xorgsetup it has configured the usb scroll-wheel mouse as well.

Here's my xorg.conf, look at it and see what would work for you.

(Note: Alot of crud in there about 'synaptics' that if you do not have the driver compiled for it, you should ignore the settings for)
