USB disk not detected on Slackware 10.2

My usb disk is notdetected in Slackware 10.2 kernel 2.4.

I tried to mount it manually:

# mkdir /media/usb

# mount /dev/sda1 /media/usb
mount: /dev/sda1 is not a valid block device

# mount /dev/sda0 /media/usb
mount: special device /dev/sda0 does not exist

# mount /dev/sda /media/usb
mount: /dev/sda is not a valid block device

Five step plan:

(1) - Unplug your USB stick.
(2) - Plug in your USB stick.
(3) - Wait 30 seconds.
(4) - Issue "dmesg | tail"
(5) - Post the output in this thread.
