USB devices only recognized with lsusb after plugged in reboot
I've been trying to solve the following minor problem for some weeks now, but can't seem to find the magic answer. In short: when I plug my usb devices (mouse, keyboard, cardreader or digital camera) into my centrino notebook (Slack Current) before boot, they all work as expected. However, when I unplug and replug them, or plug them fresh in after boot up, the are not recognized by the system, show no entries in lsusb and are not welcomed by the normal messages in /var/log/messages.
Naturally rc.hotplug is executable and all the required modules are loaded into the kernel. A similar Slackware desktop box does work with USB hotplugging.
Another question: are the USB devices working when plugged in at boot time because the kernel finds them itself, or because of 'coldplugging' (delayed hotplugging until just after boot).
