upgrading mozilla

OK slack installs mozilla to a non standard place
I tried to up grade from mozilla-1.7.11 to 1.7.13
I edited my desktop link to point to my upgraded mozilla
and ALL my plugins were gone!
ok should I reinstall all my plugins
( a distasteful task )
OR
should I over lay the upgrad over my old mozilla
(mozilla installer says this is a bad idea but it will do it)
or is there some other way to keep my plugins

I don't like a lot of things about Firefox or Thunderbird
don't even suggest I switch to these I'm not going to do it

Plugin dir

Where are all your plugins installed? They should be in $HOME/.mozilla/plugins. Where the actual binary is shouldn't matter. I may be wrong though.

Have a look at the source/xap/seamonkey/ directory (or source/xap/mozilla depending on Slackware version) - you'll notice that Pat patches the plugin directory for Mozilla/Seamonkey. You can either make this adjustment to the script that starts mozilla, or put your plugins in $HOME/.mozilla/plugins as suggested by the previous post.
