Upgrading from Slackware 13.1 to Current
 

Now that I've installed the 13.1 ISO DVD,
and since 13.1 was released in May 2010 (2 months ago), I want to make an upgrade to actualise my last installation, but without deleting the eventuals packages I could have done since my last installation.

set your mirror to current
slackpkg update
slackpkg install-new
slackpkg upgrade-all

that's all

and don't use slackpkg clean-system, this will remove your individual installed apps.

You could also type your apps into the blacklist to protect them

I have a related question. I've been considering doing this, but my system is multilib as per alienbob's instructions. I've already blacklisted the GCC and Glib compat32 packages, but I'm wondering if there would be a conflict with the switch to -Current. Anyone had experience with this?

maybe uninstall the multilib stuff
upgrade; then rebuild multilib...
thats what I did

So the multilib guide from alienbob works on -Current without modification? That would be a relief, in that case it does sound like best practice to uninstall them first, just to be safe.

Well it seems that there is another order,
update, upgrade-all and then install-new.
and the update of slackpkg itself first.

No - first install-new to install the added packages, then upgrade it as in the man page writes that.
