Upgrade slackware...?
hmm this is a newbie question but... if I want to upgrade the kernel or pkgtools or glibc-solids... or something, do I have to but slack in telnet 1? (singel-users as you know) or can I upgrade this packages in telinit 3 without probs? It says in the upgrade-readme on slacks ftp that I should be in telinit 1..? The ting is that I want to upgrade Slack with swaret and that can't be done in singel-user mode.

I know it is recommended to telinit 1 for upgrades...and if you are using pkgtools, then this is generally a good idea. I have been running slack-current for awhile now, and using swaret, I've upgraded each and every package with no problems whatsoever. Some packages I've upgraded while X is running, but some of the more critical packages, I upgraded from the console. So, if it works fine for you, then why not? If you have problems, then the choice is obvious.
