Upgrade from 2.4.20 to 2.4.24 on SCSI

I have a Slack box running kernel 2.4.20 and I would like to upgrade it to 2.4.24 (Slack 9.1 plus patches).

The box is on SCSI hard disk with this 2940 controller.
scsi0 : Adaptec AIC7XXX EISA/VLB/PCI SCSI HBA DRIVER, Rev 6.2.8
<Adaptec 2940 Ultra SCSI adapter>

My questions:
1 - Where can I find the scsi kernel (/kernels/adaptec.s/) for 2.4.24 ?
(The current tree on slackware.com has a kernel of 2.4.25 now)

I experience before that I cannot use other kernel versions (eg. 2.4.22 which is the default for Slack 9.1)

I have upgraded a few boxex but all are on IDE hard disk, so no issues.
This is the first time on SCSI.

Any advise and suggestions?

kernel stable is now 2.6.4 (http://www.kernel.org)

i wouldn't use a precompiled kernel

compile it and add support for scsi, install it, update your lilo or grub if you use a boot loader.
