Unstable X11 with Intel integrated graphics, frequent random crashes. 13.37

Hello,
I'm having some trouble after installing Slackware 64 13.37 on my Thinkpad Edge 14. Everything is working pretty well, except I'm getting random unexplained X crashes. I get dropped straight back to the text console (same effect as hitting crtl+alt+backspace) with a message that X11 has seg faulted. I've attached the Xorg log. I tried following the steps on this website, but still experienced the crash. Quote:
Code:
root@thinkpad:/home/neil# lspci -v | grep VGA |
I found this thread and followed its advice.
I upgraded mesa, libdrm and the kernel to the versions in /testing. I downgraded my intel driver to the version in /pasture. Before I could pretty reliably crash X by navigating a few directories in RapidSVN (wtf?) and now it seems to be stable.. So I guess I'll play around for a couple days and if there are no more crashes I'll mark as solved.. |
Intel HD chipsets should be upgraded to the latest libdrm available, the latest kernel, and latest mesa3d driver to work.
Check this webpage for details as to what package versions you'll need: http://intellinuxgraphics.org/2012.02.html Packages shown may be dated but these are the minimal packages needed for full support. If you plan to use Gallium3D with "Mesa" make sure you build and install package "llvm" as well. The "driconf" package would be a good addition also. These can be found on slackbuilds. |
