I see nothing there too. How about here
http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/downloadable-video-page/ ?

From there I can run the youtube videos and also stream the mp4s in VLC. Thanks! I am still watching, whoa I like rockets.
Slackware 14.1, slackpkg+
Code:
# slackpkg search vlc
[ Status ] [ Repository ] [ Package ]
   installed restricted npapi-vlc-20140731-x86_64-1alien
   installed restricted vlc-2.1.5-x86_64-1alien

Oddly I find nothing when I use that cmd to search for vlc.
But if I run slackpg file-search vlc
I find [ installed ] - kremotecontrol-4.10.5-x86_64-1

Yes, vlc is installed and fully working...

The reason I am able to watch video on youtube may be because I am using html5

Wouldn't play for me with Firefox & Icecat but did play with Seamonkey, QupZilla, Rekonq, & Arora.

I gave it another test, on a newly installed laptop with MLED (based on slackware 14.1 64-bit. See sticky thread in this forum).

All the above links are working fine.

No VLC installed, else from that it should be pretty much the same (Slackware 14.1 with slackpkg+ and AlienBob's multilib).
Firefox version: 31.2.0 ESR
Using default player on youtube (switched to html5, still working).

That first video I can't play on my laptop. I can't play any videos on my son's. Both are Slackware 14.1, firefox 31.2, flashplayer-plugin-11.2.202.346-i386-1_SBo

His a video will from youtube will start and show the first couple seconds three times then stop saying an error has occured, mine will play the same video. Mine will play netflix using Alien BOB's pipelight package his will just give an error.

I used the same packages of flash, pipelight, etc on both.

That's odd...

What if you try youtube in html5 instead?
www.youtube.com/html5
And click on the "Request the HTML5 player"
Is that working?

Are you sure you need the VLC plugin?

Firefox doesn't need a plugin to play video.

I tried that before, youtube only has about 10% of their videos that will work without flash.
Turns out his PC just needed alsa configured to use the analog instead of digital sound interface. Aparently sound can affect video.

That's not true. You can force HTML5 mode with "Youtube Center":

https://github.com/YePpHa/YouTubeCenter/wiki

I'll have to find a video that needs Flash, because there are none coming up in my daily routine.

Note that you need all the gstreamer-plugins for full HTML5 support. Preferably gstreamer 1.x and not the outdated ones in Slackware. Of course, for GST1 Firefox has to be rebuilt.

Could well be true, but I normally find what I want to watch using html5

Always nice with an easy fix
All good on that PC then?
