Unable to create video DVD with devede

I want to burn a video dvd with devede

I add the files using the first screen but when I click on Forward to go to the next stage I get the following error

Quote:
Calculating size for disk :dvd
Threads: 1
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/lib/devede/devede_main.py", line 508, in on_main_go_clicked
conversor=devede_convert.create_all(self.gladefile,self.structure,self.global_vars,self.callback2)
File "/usr/lib/devede/devede_convert.py", line 154, in __init__
self.tree=devede_other.create_tree(self,"wprogress",self.gladefile)
File "/usr/lib/devede/devede_other.py", line 406, in create_tree
tree.add_from_file(os.path.join(builderpath,filename+".ui"))
glib.GError: Unhandled tag: 'requires'
Any help gratefully received.

I never used devede but the above error would provide a clue. Apparently the word 'requires' is incorrectly inserted, not correctly wrapped in quotation marks, or something like that. Check the tags.

Have you had any luck with this? I have just installed Devede and have the same problem.

No. I have managed to burn DVDs using dvdauthor and growisofs from the command line.

I hesitate to say this for fear of being flamed by one of the gurus but unless someone actually says that they have it working I suspect that Devede does not work in slackware 12.2

I don't know about Slack but on Fedora 11 I use DeVeDe to convert AVI files to ISO than burn the ISO with K3B.

Maybe DeVeDe works different on Slack but it doesn't have any way to burn in Fedora that I have seen.

DeVeDe works fine with Slackware and I burned quite a few disks with it before going back to convertxtodvd. I will admit however that I took a shortcut and installed Mplayer and DeVeDe from the slacky.eu repository using slapt-get so that all of the necessary dependencies were downloaded and installed along with it. I normally use SlackBuilds for software, but with so many dependencies I just let slacky.eu do the work on this one.

Yes, same thing here. But since I had found Devede at SlackBuilds.org, I thought, why not use it?

I see...
Well, I installed all the dependencies mentioned on the Devede website. I did notice however, that the version of Devede in the slackbuild was 3.11b and the latest (which I am trying to use) is 3.14. But I can't for the life of me find 3.11b anywhere. Apparently the author doesn't keep an archive for the public (but I have emailed him asking about it).

I'm getting the same thing, all dependencies installed.

I'm going to uninstall the one I installed and find an older version also. There was an older version where I downloaded mine from but I did not bookmark the source. If I find it and it works, I shall link it in this thread.
**EDIT**

http://files.majorsilence.com/devede...evede-311b.zip

It works with this file if dependencies are installed.

Arubin, you might take a look at DeVeDe 3.12c over at slacky.eu just to see if it works any better for you. This is the version I installed. A peek in their source directory will show you the slackbuild they used and the slack-required file lists the dependencies they built the package on. This is what I like about the packages at slacky.eu. All of their source materials are available for perusal.

Linuxpokernut, I just saw your edit. Glad you got it working. I ended up ditching DeVeDe in the end because it never produced a dvd over 1.6 GB and some of the videos I converted were quite long. I'll be interested in reading about your results with the software.

I was able to create a full (4gb+) DVD with no problems. Took me a while to make the iso, burn it, and test it.
