Two Konqueror icons
There are two Konqueror icons near the KDE menu button on a fresh install of Slackware 14 64-bit. When I remove them by right clicking and selecting remove the launcher, they stay gone until reboot. Why? And how can I make their banishment permanent?

If you go into System Settings and then Default Applications and set your preferred File Manager and Browser, those icons will change to reflect your choices (default is Konqueror for both functions).

Thank you
Worked for me. Much appreciated.

You can remove them by editing ~/.kde/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc and deleting these 2 lines.

I see these two icons, too, and I already knew, that one is for Konqueror as web browser and the other is for Konqueror as file manager, which is ok, but it is a litlle confusing, that the icons look identical, so that I never know, which is what. Currently I don't have the two icons, anymore, but as far as I recall it, there's not even a mouse-over text telling the difference.

I don't use KDE but I have seen this, I think you just have to remove the task manager widget and then re-add it.

I found, that there is a nice applet ("mini program") "Konqueror-Profile" that allows to invoke Konqueror with different profiles:
- web browsing - tabbed web browsing - file management - KDE development - Midnight Commander Really nice and useful. Recommended! gargamel |
