TTF Fonts

I want to know how to get Mozilla or Netscape to use TTF fonts. I really want to use my TTF fonts from WinXP because they make a huge difference. Can someone be kind and give me a step-by-step howto for this?

P.D. I know that I am posting multiple threads about the same issue but I want to get this working and I can't find an anwer.

1. DONT post multiple times. Its against the rules, and you do it alot. We are volunteers, no problem is "urgent" for us.

2. Search the forums, its asked all the times.

Searching "install fonts" or "TTF fonts" or "fonts mozilla" should work.

compile mozilla with xft, or download a binary compiled with xft.

I'm not in Slack right now (:o) but if I remember it correctly, all I had to do to get my Windows TTF's working was to copy them do /usr/X11/lib/fonts/Truetype...then refresh the font cache...done. I could be wrong about the directory, but a quick look at your XF86Config will reveal it. Hairy solution perhaps, but it works. :D

Google turned this up:

haven't had time to examine it so may be good, may not.

I am using xfstt and I want to know why I get a little strange fonts when I am using Mozilla or Netscape. Do I need to do anything else?

Great HOWTO! Worked for me!

XP: nvn is correct on the HOWTO. Did you check in your mozilla preferences/appearance/fonts to see if the new fonts are available? Try running 'fc-cache' either from the CL or pkgtool, then reboot and they should be there.
