trying to install slack on vmware.. HD probs..

Im trying to install slackware on VMware from WinXP (its my wife's computer.. going this route to try and get her to switch )

however.. I cannot at all get this thing to run setup... it says there are no partitions. If i run cfdisk of fdisk.. is says the disk could not be opened?? Any ideas?

I can get mandrake to install (useing the auto partition).. but i want slackware.. Why cant I fdisk with slackware?

any ideas?

Thanks

i think that before you boot slackware, you got to edit the properties in the vmware and add a virtual disk

The default disk for Linux in vmware is SCSI, so you'll have to specify a SCSI kernel during setup or go to the advanced options in vmware to setup an IDE disk.

This question gets asked about every other week. Search the forum for more info. Then you'll also know what to do when you boot up after install and get nothing but a black screen.

Enjoy!
