Tragic NetworkManager after Jul22 update
I just installed a slackware-current 2012Jul22 system and found that in KDE NetworkManager setup, the encryption type is now (somewhat) automatically chosen by the computer. When setting up a wireless connection, before choosing an access point, the encryption scheme drop-down list is empty. This is ok, but -- after selecting a WPA-encrypted network, the drop-down list shows only LEAP and WEP! Then I have no way to connect to WPA access points.
I have another identical computer (only with a different video card) which has slackware-current 2012Jun30 installed. There I can choose all encryption types freely even when no access point is specified. I have no problem with wireless setup on this other system. Any having similar problems? |
WPA2-AES here... might want to double check your router just to be sure.

I have the same issue. My router is configured for WPA-PSK.
As NM uses wpa supplicant to connect to wpa networks does wpa supplicant have to run in the background?Or should the wpa_supplicant.conf contain any different configurationoption then the default ? |

I face the same issue. NM is not giving me the choice to choose WPA, etc. Unsecured WIFI connections are working. The same is working with WIC and I can connect to WPA secured WIFI's. On a second laptop NM is working well. So any hint to what to check would be appreciated. Both laptops are running -current. Cheers, Grischuna |
