Hi = ola! :-)

Unless you have a thorough knowledge of the functioning of the operating system, in the case here, Slackware, I think then reinstall the released versions would be better and safer. There are so-called human error and they occur, even if we have the maximum care ...
One thing's for sure! The released versions of Slackware are what most are near perfection, though, I believe, are not perfect ...

Perhaps controversially I have returned to 13.0 and plan on staying there until Slackware 14.0 comes out. 13.1 has not been kind to my intel video chip, despite me spending a lot of time with various workarounds, while performance on 13.0 is rock solid. So I guess another option that could be considered is 'remain with 13.0' .

I don't tend to update at all, just keep up with security fixes.

I run such astripped down slack, basically just fluxbox, firefox, a few other gui programs and a whole host of development and network stuff that doesn't ship with slack in the first place.

I feel like most of the work put into the updates would not be passed across to me, so I probably won't upgrade until 13.2 or 14.

Regarding the above said by me must be true for desktop, on servers that use Slackware the problem must be more complex since reinstall a new version released should require a series of procedures ... The network administrator will know how to choose the best path ...

I'm sorry to answer myself.
