[SOLVED] This there a Slackware version of Google Chromium Browser? (not Google Chrome)

Hello:

I feel like celebrating!!!! This is my first post using Slackware!!!

I installed Slackware 13.1 successfully, I believe.
And now, after 3 days of reading & researching, I actually connected, wirelessly, to the net!!! (I still haven't tried to connect via my ethernet network card.)

I have been using the Chromium Browser, not Google Chrome and I would like to know if it, the Chromium Browser, is available for Slackware?

There is also reports that some people use SRWare Iron which is a derivative of Chromium under the attempt to remove 'phone home' code. I'm not sure how much I trust either browser and the interface annoys me too much.

haha honestly none of them... but I do use firefox the most.

I agree with Lumak, i.e., I don't really trust any of them, but Opera does a good
job. You can find it at SlackBuilds or download a package from the Salix site.

Or if you want to try our snapshots (public development builds). You can grab the most recent ones from the Opera Desktop Team Blog. To convert any of our cross distro tar packages into Slackware format, just use my 'op2slk' (Opera format to Slackware format) conversion script. (If you are not so fussed with needing native packages then this page will tell you how to install with our install script. Check out the suffix option for multiple non-clashing side by side installs. This is handy if you want to install both a stable and a test version.)

If you want a way to know about new versions I also wrote an Opera specific script to check if updates are available. It'll track stable, betas or snapshots. It'll also work on any distro and try to pick the most appropriate package for your setup and even install it if you want. If the download is a tar, op2slk is available (within your $PATH) and the host distro appears to be Slackware it will even handle conversion first. Which basically means Opera updates for Slackware using the native package manager!
