I liked how open box was standards compliant and completely minimal but then I tried fluxbox and it was everything I was trying to make blackbox do. Both projects are equally important to the same lines of thinking.

Slackware 12.2 and KDE 3.5.10.

The first one is a "clean" desktop, but Amarok and Thunderbird are running as you can see on the bottom right hand side of the screen.

In the second shot you will see Kopete, Opera running with this page, a old DOS database/client tracking program running in DOSBox, The American Heritage Dictionary running in Wine, Gwenview, and, as in the first shot, Amarok and Thunderbird.

Both thumbnails are not showing for some reason, at least not as I view this page in Opera, but if you click on the text "kde3.5.10-02.jpg" the clean desktop will be displayed.

The wallpaper is by, Bob van Alphen.

I've been using this theme since I changed from KDE to Fluxbox about 4 years ago. I rarely change the background. This one I've been using for about a year. My resolution is 1024x768 so the Eterm and Herrie windows cover a large area. I like to keep my desktop clean so Gkrellm is docked in the corner and only shows my wireless signal strength.

Theme, including wallpaper, inspired by SqdnGuns, in a post sometime ago....

Fluxbox, adesklets, conky

fyi - I only use F/LOSS; the *Word* and *msn* icons are to aid the lemmings - Oo and pidgin or psi are actually on the system....

Found an image on deviant-art today and decided it'd make a nice replacement for the background on the WindowMaker 'Night' theme that I've been using for quite a while now.

A little manipulation here and there and I'm quite chuffed with the result.

My desktop

If you're wondering about the elements on the screen:

Yes, your eyes do not deceive you... The clock top right is 'xclock' with its window attributes set to borderless/staybehind/non-focus etc...

A customised Conky below that and then just the windowmaker dock and a standard xterm.

Ha! I can't wait until I can get my slack install to look half as good as some of these. Love the escher wallpaper btw. Also: I second the notion of a unofficial slackware wallpaper compilation
