Hey man... great post! I'm a Fedora user getting ready to try out Slackware for the first time, so your post is right up my alley.

I wish Slackware users had a website like http://fedoranews.org (No Plug Intended) where you could submit articles such as yours. I'm afraid your information my get swallowed by this board :( and SlackNoobs like me won't run across it.

Keep up the good job!

Perhaps http://userlocal.org is similar.

dawizman- thanks for another great suggestion.

JonCooperUK- There's a few thing you're gonna have to do if you want to use that picture. I never have made my own picture, which is kinda like what your gonna have to do. Hope you're better at GIMP than me.
Thanks for the explanation.

I ended up using the slackware 9.0 package for the suse-patched lilo. This therefore enables animated images as well as creating tables for the options etc. I can thoroughly recommend anyone wanting to try it out does so - it's very easy!

I used the packages from here

okay I am following your guide and I am stuck.... I am doing the Dropline full install. Everything works up to actually downloading the software. It is on the first of 189. But it cannot connect to telia.dl.sourceforge.net.

It just retrys forever. Is there a way to change the download location? I checked the dropline forums but couldn't find anyone with simaler problem.

blood_omen 04-27-2004 02:15 PM

JonCooperUK: Do you mind if I take that pictures you posted and fix it, I mean, just change it to 640X480X16 and then post it back?

I'm kinda eager to help and it happens that I use GIMP. I might post some image of my own creation, I created them to be my wallpapers, but they may as well work as a lilo images.

prettyhatem- There is only the one server for Dropline that I know of. I haven't had any trouble with them recently, though. I'm assuming that your internet is working, since you got the Droplineiinstaller package. Maybe try waiting an hour. Maybe the server is just busy right now. If it still doesn't work, post back. The Dropline forum is also pretty great. They usually answer all of my questions very quickly.

blood_omen- If you do doctor that up, remember to get rid of the timer and the word "Slackware" inside the box. LILO puts them both there for you. And thanks for any contributions to this post.

wow someone actually uses my lilo boot splash! I am glad to hear it.

shilo 04-27-2004 03:07 PM

Yeah, that bootsplash of your's is the coolest.

One more question, I'm new to this forum, how do I include links to the posts, I assume that just writing the URL will suffice, am I correct?, sorry if it is off-topic.

shilo 04-27-2004 03:17 PM

That's all I do. I just copy the url and paste it in the message. It automatically gets parsed for you.

blood_omen 04-27-2004 04:26 PM

This is quite funny, I got the picture done, but now I remember that I don't have a place to post it, nor an ftp or an http server. I'm not @ home, so I don't have access to my computer and the computer that I am right now is behind a firewall which I don't have access either. In other words, I won't be able to send it, unless that I can attach files to the post, which I doubt.

Is there somebody that will be kind enough to facilitate an ftp or some space in the web so I can send the picture?

Sorry for all the troubles, is a last minute issue that I didn't take into consideration.

shilo 04-27-2004 04:56 PM

Doh!!! I wish I could help out. Hopefully someone has something. If nothing else, there is always Geocities.

blood_omen 04-27-2004 05:17 PM
