Yeah, then you have not understood the beauty of Slackware, i.e. it let you have full control of your system.

Otherwise, Ubuntu is also a "works out of the box" distro :D

Kind regards

I think we can draw the following conclusion from this thread: all Slackware users like Slackware. Agree?

Of course, that is true. But everyone knows it.

And I just told you why I like Slackware, for ME, yeah "ME", Slackware is not like ANY other distro, Slackware is perfect for me.

Good for you, if you like it, that's all that counts.
Just saying that you can have full control of any distro.

Kind regards

I remember when Repo was a die-hard Debianite...and then I think he got tired of Dpkg breaking, lol:)

I disagree. I, yes, "I", cannot have that control I have in Slackware with some other distro's. I chose the control I have with Slackware's package manager over Debian's package manager for example.

But no point of continue with this, cause you cannot separate between objective and subjective statements.

state of current

It seems Pat is monitoring the current state of the kernel tree. I'm betting that 3.0 will the the kernel of choice for his distro since its the new long term kernel but there is a patch for the aspm power regression going into 3.3 but I'm sure it will be baskported........

The evidence, or more accurately the lack of it, suggests he isn't doing much of anything with Slackware at present. The good ship Slackware appears to have been becalmed. Not much to do but wait it out and hope that the winds fill our sails again before we have to start thinking about drinking our own urine or eating Brian!
