The switch (Slack to Knoppix)

Do you know that in the middle ages you could get locked up for even mentioning the switch? Oh Linux right sorry.

Not exactly a Slackware question; I'm in that introductory phase where I try almost all of the distributions and I'm contemplating a try at the Knoppix HD install. What I'm worried about is the Lilo. Right now it actually works to boot up Slack Winbloze and FreeBSD which is quite amazing from such a hump as myself.

But I do believe that if I wipe the Slack partition I'll lose some Lilo pertinent info such as the config file right? Can I just save those and copy them to the new freshly installed oh so purty mouthed Knoppix directory structure? You know I could just let Knoppix install Grubber but that would just be too simple wouldn't it??? We have to make things difficult you know.............

maybe you can best copy the /etc/lilo.conf to the BSD or win. partition, then , after installing knoppix ,
copy this file back to /etc. Check if the image in the lilo.conf has the same name as the image in the knoppix -/boot
( mine is called just 'vmlinuz' ). then save it and run 'lilo'.

that should work ...
