Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

When you purchase Slackware from the store you get the 4 disc set which includes :
Disc 1 = Install disc 1
Disc 2 = Install disc 2 (Gnome/KDE) also Bootable Live rescue disc and Extra and Test Packages.
Disc 3 = Part one of the Source code and the Slackware manual
Disc 4 = Part two of the Source code and Zipslack also old/pasture packages
All in all pretty good bang for your buck. I help support Slackware by purchasing a subscription -- that way new releases come to me automatically (even though I use swaret to stay up with current) and you get a price break $24.95 compared to $39.95. I consider it a small price to pay for such an excellent product.
