The Slackware ARM Question of the day: why xf86-video-s3-0.6.5-arm-4.tgz ?!?

Being slow today, I fail to remember what ARM chipset uses the (10 years? old) S3 video cards via REAL PCI slots (which is almost nonexistent in ARM, excluding an PCI software emulation used by WonderMedia WM8650 / WM8850 & Co. chipsets).

Then, my today (rhetorical?) question is: why it is included in the Slackware ARM (current), the support for that S3 PCI cards?

We really, BUT really!, need that package on Slackware ARM?

Debate!

I'm not really sure about the genuine purpose of your post, but firstly:
1. It's a port. If it compiles and is _possibly_ useful, then it'll be added. If it compiles and is entirely useless on ARM, it won't be included.
2. I have an ARM desktop machine which has PCI slots into which I can put any card I like. As it happens I'm sure I still have an S3 card in my box-o-crap.

Hope that helps! Next question please! ;-)

Yeah, more than likely it's included because it's a part of the Xorg package. Debian does the same thing. But hey, if you manage to find an ARM board with a PCI slot, you'll at least have the comfort of knowing that your Trio64 card will still work.
