I see what they did there. They took something powerful and fast and crippled it by sticking Windows XP on it. Nice way to handicap the horse

AtomChip.... Hmm, I obviously never heard of it, but I'll bet it would be a pretty good competitor, Singapore has very good electronics, but I wonder if it is just in an x86 flavour, and apparantly, it did not say if it was x86_64, now that would be even more powerful, but seeing the specs on it, I didn't think XP could support so much ram... [edit], 1 TB of ram, I wonder if that would just eliminate the need for any swap space, and I haven't seen 2.4 or 2.6 kernels that support that much ram either.

This laptops implements patented new designs of the motherboard, processor, co-processor, RAM and Storage by Atom Chip Corporation (USA).
So... its a completely new arcitecture, right? thats what I got out of it.

Quote:
In order for Windows XP to work properly with AtomChip@processor, some structural changes were made. Simultaneously four identical copies of the Operational System work in the computer. AtomChip@co-processor counts all packets of RAM and summarizes all occupied and free registers. All these innovations are covered with several new patents.
nothing about instructions sets besides the mention of XP (x86).
kinda crazy. I don't think I'll rush out and buy one yet, but it
is interesting.

Its a hoax

That computer and the site is a hoax. The register had an article about it on 7th September 2005 called:US 'world genius' touts 6.8GHz 'quantum-optical' CPU. I am too new here to be able to post a link.
