Testing Intel Pro/Wireless 2011 for slack8.1., TX-problem
I'm been testing out my Intel Pro Wireless 2011 Lan PC Card with orinoco_cs (0.0.9b and 0.0.11 with,
wirless_tools 24 and 25.) and linux-wlan-ng-0.1.15, prism2_cs hence with out complete success. Orinoco_cs-0.0.9b works, but the time out/reset problem is annoying and it's not fun to call for dhcpcd everytime I attempt downloading a www-page. My , Intel Pro Wireless 2011 Lan PC Card. which came with APWE-1100, upgraded it to use firmware 3.2.28. (see www.intel.com ) Notice, according to Intel: "We have researched this issue, and discovered the following information: The APWE1100 was a development item, and came out before the encryption was bundled into the product. This item was never intended to be sold on the market. Here at Intel we only support the Xircom(R) Wireless Ethernet Access Point (APWE1120). We suggest you return this item to the place of purchase. Since it is not supported we are unable to refund the item through are normal channels. Also, please be aware that Intel will not have any further development on this product. Sincerely, Marcela C. Intel(R) Technical Support" Which is pretty crap cause I'm not able to return it! Anybody else with APWE-1100?? (I don't know of any Linux way for setting up the Access point!?) The Access Point have also been tested and worked perfectly with some wireless Cisco card. (with WEP, hence only got 40bit encryption working.) Tested with: slackware 8.1, kernel 2.4.18 pcmcia-cs-3.1.33 *wireless-tools-24 (and wirless-tools-25 gave same results) *orinoco-0.09b (default slackware 8.1) Net connection works. (With WEP). However time out problems appears when d/L larger amount of information. I'm not sure if this holds true for 2011 wireless card? I supposed prism2_cs is the right driver in this case??
