Team Fortress 2 freezes system. Not sure who to report this to...

Whenever I play TF2 using the FOSS radeon driver the game freezes, the audio loops, and I can't alt+tab, minimize, or even switch to another VT. So I have to hard reboot.

This was happening in X version 1.17 and now in version 1.18. The only fix is to downgrade X and install the outdated catalyst driver. I would like to report this to someone, but I don't know if the problem is in X itself, the driver, or TF2. I also can't find any crash logs so I don't know what information I would even send.

Any ideas?

If the game runs well with the proprietary driver, then the problem seems to be related to the xorg driver. Can you post your lspci and /var/log/Xorg.0.log here ?

.

Yes I read this somewhere, tried it and TF2 crashed after 2 seconds ingame lol.
Keyboard was non responsive, but I could still ssh into the box.
But no error messages in dmesg

Seems there are already bugreports for it:
https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Sou...es/issues/1943
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=95308
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=93649

I don't even play this game, but this really sucks, it should never
lockup like this. Oh well

Basically, you are yet another victim of Arch(err... Slack)ware Linux v14.2.

The Gods to bless you!
