System restore for slack 10?

I am new to Slackware but have been using Mandrake sense 7.x, anywho here is my question. Is there an equivalent to system restore on windowz, available to install so I can keep playing and messing it up and not have to keep "fresh" installing it?:newbie:

I'm not aware of a system restore, however I have an idea. Try using Slax, the live CD version of Slackware, and do your experimenting that way. I believe you are able to save your sessions to floppy disk for the next time you reboot. This way if you make a mistake, you can just reboot without the floppy and you will be back to square 1. It's not quite "system restore" but it sure beats having to reinstall from scratch.

Just a thought.

Hello,

what i have done is used Norton Ghost to make cd-image-set of my basic setup with added tweaks. You can then screw around to your hearts content and if you must restore, it takes about 15 minutes. Then you must use something such as system restore or slax to boot up your install. Then mount you restored install, chroot in, and run lilo. Then when you reboot you have a nice working slack 10 again, or i do:)

What maybe easier that i am now about to do. Is have 2 installs of the same distro, sort of my own stable/testing and then the experimental. The first one i will not fool with much as i do need to get a few things accomplished. But the other install is fair game for anything. If ya scre it up just copy the partition back over and start again.

Hope that helps
Boutros
