swaret and slackpkg


Hello,

Whats the difference between swaret and slackpkg because i have always been use swaret but i saw in the changlog of june 15 that slackpkg was in it i ask a friend he told be that it is the same as swaret now i would like to know whats the diference and do you have to use them serperated or can u use them togheter

I would only use one or the other. The main difference is just that thier written by two different groups both for the same purpose. Unless you don't like swaret for some reason, there is no need to switch.

Of course, Swaret and Slapt-get are for people who can't get over leaving Debian.

actually, i use slackpkg to keep my slack current...never had a problem...and it's in the extras packages, so pat thinks it's good enough...yup yup. oh, and i've never used debian...so there's no separation anxiety with me

Actually, I wasn't referring to Slackpkg, only the apt-like programs, which to me seem just as alien as the new Anaconda installer for Gentoo...

this topic was discussed billion times, the main difference is that swaret supports "packages dependency check"(which is not recommended by Pat), slackpkg doesn't use anything else then original vanilla pkgtool...
