Yeah, I don't seem to have that either, but I don't think it's absolutely necessary to run before you can configure your X system. As long as you know your videocard and your screen resolution, the rest should be easy cheesy. Typing "lspci" will get you info regarding your videocard, though I admit it's not a lot.

And if all else fails you can always do a complete re-install ( :chuckles: ), this time remembering to install all packages, to fill in correct values for your screen resolution and to install LILO into the MBR.

Yep.. A re-install would probably be best.. I have learned more about Linux in the last 6-7 hours, than I could have ever imagined. It would make so much more since now...

zsejk.. I am sorry I have dragged you along with me on this painful trip.. But am quite grateful, indeed..

Hey, it's not problem at all. I went through all this very very recently, so I empathize. And as you can see I don't really know too much about anything either, but I *do* know that after tweaking with your install for this long at some point it becomes just plain easier to re-install than to keep tweaking.

And you're always free to email or Yahoo message me (again: not that I am Linux Guru No.1, but at least you'll have *someone* who knows what you're going through).
