Suddenly I can't log in...
First, I'm using Slackware64 -current.
A few hours ago, or so, I suddenly was no longer able to log in to linuxquestions.org, but had been on a few times earlier in the day. No changes have been made today, but late yesterday all the most recent -current updates were installed. So, I went to leave a message for the System Administrator about the problem and thought to try to sign on via winXp running in VirtualBox and, bingo, here we are, using the "oldie, but goodie" Opera 12.xx for windows. Any thoughts about what could be the problem when trying to sign in using Slackware? Again, there have been no changes made to this box since installing the -current upgrades yesterday and I was on linuxquestions.org earlier today. Thanks. |
What browser are you using in Slackware current?
|
Have you tried a different browser?
|
You're not alone. I'm still logged On my phone but can't get on via my desktop. I'm not nearly as updated as you on current as I have yet to take the 4.19 kernel update. No go on chromium or Firefox :-/

Well, at moment I can log on with Slackware.
Just a few minutes ago I tried to sign on via winXP in VB and that failed, so I'll wait until morning before marking this "solved." :) BTW, four different browsers were tried, Pale Moon, Firefox, Opera-12.16 and Vivaldi. At the moment Pale Moon is being used. |
FWIW, I also had difficulty logging in earlier this evening, 14.2 (32 bit) fully updated to Nov 6 change log.
In my case I closed my browser, waited a couple of minutes and then got in. I suspect it is not Slackware related but probably related to site maintenance, but that is just a best guess. Please post again if the problem persists, perhaps the site admins will update us if this catches their attention. |
firefox is pretty much independent from the system, has its own crypto engine - NSS(Network Security Services) and certificates storage&management, and it wasn't updated recently in Slackware -current (according to the changelog).
If firefox didn't work, then it's not a Slackware issue but rather something at LQ. |
Last night I received the following from Linuxquestions.org as a result
of reporting the problem, Quote:
Oh, and, yes, it does appear to be a message board problem. Which reminds me, wasn't something said a month or two ago about changing or upgrading the board software? |
@cwizardone: anonymize your email address in your last post, otherwise spammers will get it thanks to crawlers/spiders/scrapers/harvesters/whatever...^^
