stupid queston "how to beep"
 

i need to make my slack to play a "beep" sound.... it's look like when i start my backup i want that slack play a beep 3 times... how do it????:Pengy:

thats the first result that come up on google for me, i tried it and it works.

Put this in your .bashrc

alias beep='echo -ne "\a";sleep 1'

source your .bashrc by typing:

. .bashrc

now whenever you type "beep" you get a beep.
Handy for knowing when a kernel compile finishes

another question "and if i want to turn the beep longer, is it possible???

man xset look for the b option
you can vary volume, pitch and duration
