Strange USB behaviour

I'm on 2.6.0 and use a wireless USB trackball. No, I'm not asking about the wheel it works fine Strange thing is though that whenever I do a reboot (for whatever reason) The USB trackball is ' forgotten' it can be easily resolved by moving the trackball to the next USB slot. It's a bit (as in a lot) anoying that I have to climb under my desk to change USB slot whenever I reboot. Is there a logical explanation for what's wrong?

Regards
