Strange rendering of Linux.com Slackware 12.1

Dear all
Can anyone else confirm that the linux.com website renders in a very small ugly font for them, when i try and increase the size of the text just the menus are resized and not the text.

I have no issues with any other webpage whatsoever, and it renders fine on my other distro`s any ideas???

update:- This site looks fine with konqueror but with firefox 2.0.0.14 it is awful.

Many thanks

adrian

It's also the case for me but, as I install other custom fonts, I thought it was a problem with my own settings.

Hello thanks for the reply,it must be something to do with the way firefox is using the fonts,it is fine on konqueror a strange one this, the only fonts i have added are the microsoft windows fonts through control centre.

i have also recompiled freetype with sub-pixel rendering etc... but it was the same before i did that anyway.

Umm back to the drawing board..

regards

I did also rebuild freetype to get support for the bytecode interpreter, if that helps searching for the specific cause of the problem.

I'm using Firefox and www.linux.com looks fine for me.

Granted, I have a 17" CRT monitor (not a LCD one).

Anyway initially the fonts were ugly on Yahoo. I modified the Firefox settings for the fonts:

- I use Devaju Serif size 16 as a default font
- and I unchecked the box on the option "Allow site to use their own fonts instead of those selected" (or something similar, sorry I'm using french version).

This last step solved my issue with Yahoo.

This worked for me:
Open Firefox => preferences => Content => Fonts & Colors => Advanced
Changed 'Proportional' to 'Sans Serif'.
Unchecked 'Allow pages to choose their own fonts'.

Beaten to it by a minute. Must type faster!

I do have the Windows fonts installed (and they're working because I'm using them) and experience the problem anyway. Also, disabling webpages from using other fonts is probably a workaround and not a solution. I didn't have time to verify the CSS at linux.com, but I somehow doubt they set the fonts to be so small.

Had (and still have) the same problem. Forgot to search. Started the following thread on the same topic:

Strange rendering of Linux.com Slackware 12.1

Can I get the mods to merge these two threads please?
