Strange problem with Slackware 13.1 (network + monitor)

When I say strange I mean strange!

A have a headless gateway/webserver/firewall.

It is all fine ... Until I have to restart it for one reason or a nother (power surge/kernel/update).

Then begins the problem - everything boots up normaly (I have read the /var/log/messages). The network is working the first 3-4-5 seconds and then there is no connection to $LAN interface (Not sure for the $WAN).

The only way to boot normaly the system is to connect a monitorduring boot time ...

I have compared the two massages logs line by line ... And they look squicky clean.

If somebody have an idea I'll be glad to hear it!

Well this tests the $WAN connection!
Last night it did it again ... and I rebooted it with monitor just now.
