Strange problem with Firefox and Flash
If I play a video in youtube, then open a new tab, the fonts on the new web page seem to be transparant and change colour with whatever is happening in the youtube tab.
Im also seeing people with blue skin.
What gives?

I don't know about the transparent fonts, but if you have an Nvidia card, you might want to search the forum for 'libvdpau' for the blue skin problem. I seem to remember a similar thread not that long ago.

To fix the blue skin issue, try right clicking inside a flash video, going to settings and disabling 'hardware acceleration'. After restarting your browser that should go away..

So works. Thanks Lyle.
Thanks also Wallison, I had a look at the 'libdvpau' solution, but it was too difficult for me.
And thanks to D1ver. I did try disabling hardware acceleration from within flash, but the options menu is always frozen.

You're welcome. If only there was a solution for the X.org freezes.

I recently re-installed Slackware-14 simply because I had been running current-x86_64 since it first came out. The blue skin problem returned, even with the Nvidia-304x driver. Nothing was working from this thread, and even though the skin tone was a bit annoying, I wasn't too upset with it.
Then I remembered something about this problem being fixed with the new Nvidia blob, so I started searching for what was different. I have another install of Slackware-14 on another partition. It was setup strictly for multilib and steam - no multimedia stuff. I started looking at 3rd party stuff I was replacing with the fresh install. I found Eric's libvdpau package in my archive that I restored in the new install. Blue skin is now gone. I think (and I'm too lazy to look) that Eric's package is no longer necessary since vdpau is now in the blob. Anyways, the skin tone is normal.

It is back? I use 304.64 nvidia blob, I recompiled mplayer recently and it didn't find vdpau on my system. I'm still limited to xv and other older video output options. Hmmm...

This is what I found on my system with just the blob:
Code:
/usr/doc/NVIDIA_GLX-1.0/html/vdpausupport.html
/usr/lib64/libvdpau.so.304.51
/usr/lib64/vdpau
/usr/lib64/vdpau/libvdpau_nvidia.so.1
/usr/lib64/vdpau/libvdpau_nvidia.so.304.51
/usr/lib64/vdpau/libvdpau_trace.so.304.51
/usr/lib64/libvdpau_nvidia.so
/usr/lib64/libvdpau_trace.so

I have that too. Wonder why mplayer won't recognize vdpau on my system. My graphics card is vdpau capable and I've used it in the past.
