Storing network settings permanently in Slackware 10.2

Hi,

How do I store network setttings permanently in Slackware 10.2

you see I was some existing settings, I do "netconfig" and configure my new settings, but when I restart, again I get the old settings!!!!
From where does slackware take the old settings from, primarily the IP, the DNS I change manually, the gateway I add via route, but the IP persists, I have to change it manually with ifconfig every startup!!

netcongig should permanently store your settings after you run it, so I'm not sure why it's not. You can manually enter your network settings in /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf

You can manually enter your DNS settings in /etc/resolv.conf

perhaps 'netconfig' is not asking the modules for your NIC to load after reboot. What is the output of 'lsmod' after 'netconfig' and what is the output after reboot?
