Still no luck getting Brother DCP-7040 working

I go to the Brother site and get the two .deb files and use alien to convert to .tgz and run install pkg as root from /. I then plug in printer and go to localhost:631 and add printer. The printer is listed as being on usb #1, which I select. But, then It presents with a list of Brother printers, none of which are a DCP-7040, or select a ppd file, of which none exists in the files downloaded from Brother.

So, now what?

If you have a 64bit Slackware install, then download and install Alien Bob's cups-compat32 package http://taper.alienbase.nl/mirrors/pe...6-x86_64-1.txz
Brother drivers are often 32bit only.
