startkde > xsetroot: unable to open display ''


hi people...

i having a problem wich KDE
when i put #startkde i recive this message

xsetroot: unable to open display ''
xset: unable to open display ""
xsetroot: unable to open display ''
startkde: Starting up...
ksplash: cannot connect to X server
kdeinit: Aborting. $DISPLAY is not set.
Warning: connect() failed: : Connection refused
ksmserver: cannot connect to X server
ERROR: Couldn't attach to DCOP server!

Error: Can't contact kdeinit!
startkde: Running shutdown scripts...
startkde: Done.


i configureted the XORG... reinstalled the KDE and the problem don't stop...

Try issuing, as regular user and not root:

startx


Then let us know what happens.

You don't run startkde from the command line. It belongs as the final line in ~/.xinitrc. What you run from the command line is startx. The easiest way to place the window manager you want at the end of a properly configured ~/.xinitrc is to run xwmconfig from the command line, and then choose the window manager you want from the menu it calls. In your case, you'd choose KDE from that menu. Then do startx from the command line.

i understood.... i used the XMCONFIG and have work...
