src2pkg xscreensaver

Having a bit of a problem with this - it configures, makes and makes install ok, but when getting to the 'Creating slack-desc' it just hangs.

Tried with 1.9.3, 1.9.2 and 1.8 so far.

Top shows that grep is being called, and 'ps aux | grep grep' shows:

Code:

Any ideas? Actually I only wanted to see what glcells looks like, which I could just copy across or insert into existing package, but I thought you would want to know about this. I've left it running for around 10 mins and still doesn't seem to finish.

Try upgrading grep from the latest GNU sources. I once encountered an obscure bug in grep in another bash-based program, and upgrading grep fixed it.

No change so far. This time I'm going to leave it running to see if it ever finishes. Maybe writing my own alack-desc will work...

Putting in a slack-desc only works around the code causing the main problem, but for now it'll have to be good enough.

Note to anyone interested: The problemetic grep call is at 13-make_description:355.

BTW, what is "du -sh /var/log/packages"? Also, did you see a "head" or "cut" process?

I'm just back from 2 weeks vacation. I'll try to address the question within the next 24 hours.
