Spotify segmentation fault on Slackware64 14.0

Just upgraded to Slackware64 14.0 and installed spotify-client_0.8.4.103.g9cb177b.260-1_amd64.deb and it keeps on crashing after I have logged in.

Does anyone else have the same problem?

See the last post of this thread.

The outcome is the same unfortunately.

Do you have a full installation of Slackware64 14.0? If not, check that the package openssl-solibs-1.0.1c be installed, for instance type "ls /var/log/packages/openssl-s*".

stahlkrantz 10-09-2012 08:51 AM

Yes, it's a full install. Perhaps Spotify will resolve this soon.

I started using Spotify today and have found a workable solution. I have copy/pasted the instructions I posted to alt.os.linux.slackware

Quote:

For anyone using Spotify on Slackware 14 x64, on top of the Seamonkey symlinks you need to link the libssl and libcrypto libraries to /usr/lib64 from /lib64

This will allow you to login.

You can't use Facebook linking or login though, it will crash everytime when closing the Facebook popup. Some people on other distros have managed to solve the problem by granting Facebook permissions from Windows and launching Spotify once, then unchecking the box.

Spotify will still have the normal problems of crashing every 15 minutes, so you should make a cron job to delete the .cache/spotify/Browser/index file every 5 minutes.

These things will take care of the Linux side issues, but even on Windows I guess Spotify crashes on certain actions and certain songs.

Having the same issues here to, despite following all of the advice in various threads. However, and I'm hoping this might help the clever people out there find a proper solution. It seems, well here at least, that while Spotify segfaults when using it under KDE, when running under XFCE, it seems to be fine. Tried disabling desktop effects to no avail.
So not the best solution when I want to use it, but a solution of sorts nonetheless.

Well I'm using Xfce and it still segfaults. The only (GUI based) solution I have found is to use Clementine which supports Spotify.

Spotify is back and better than ever before.

With the latest slackbuild, things are suddenly working perfectly. The funny thing is that the slackbuild doesn't list any dependencies.
