specify default sound card

I have two sound cards, and I need to know how to tell alsa which one to pipe sound to. One card is is a pci card and the other is the integrated intel one. The pci card is configured and works fine but I want to use the integrated one since I need the spare pci slot. So how can I disable the pci and enable the integrated card? I ran alsaconf for both and have mixed them, but I still have no sound. Thanks.

Why don't you remove the sound card from the PCI slot and then re-run alsaconf?

Yeah, I just thought of that. I'll try it when I get home tonight. Thanks
