SPDIF Sound Output with 13.37 and an Asus EEE Box B202?

I would like to use the SPDIF digital sound output on my Asus EEE Box B202 (Intel Atom N270, not sure of the sound chip, I believe it is also Intel). I want the digital output since I will be feeding a 2 channel external DAC.

alsaconf could not autodetect the sound "card", I did not test for legacy devices since I don't think it applies and alsoconf raised a warning about stability during testing.

Edit: Based on other threads I just tested with "aplay -l" and the output is this:

aplay -l | grep card
card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: ALC888 Analog [ALC888 Analog]
card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 1: ALC888 Digital [ALC888 Digital]

So it looks like some probe did pick up the sound "card"/chip.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Check 'alsamixer' and make sure SPDIF is unmuted.
